The event

Why Epic Rides is considered a purist cycling event? Because the end result depends only on the competitor’s strengths and abilities.

Epic Rides is a purist event, where everyone has equal rights to victory. Some of its unique features are:

No Support

It is the only kind of cycling event where no outside assistance is allowed. You can take whatever you need or buy on the road.

“Unsupported” regulation is not limited to the fact that you have to carry with you or buy what you need.

Even if the route passes through your city, you will not be able to rest at your home. Why; Because it is considered as a form of “support”.

For the same reason, you may not receive food or any help from a friend. Why not; Because this would mean that there is unequal treatment for a competitor, compared to the rest of the group.

So all of the above are included in the “no support” regulation.

No Drafting

The most fair way to finish first is with your own strengths. So everyone starts and ends on his own. Ecxepions →  Pairs & Teams.

It is a common practice in brevets, for competitors to form groups, thus holding their strength for the rest of the route.

In Epic Rides, there are no groups, so there is no “hiding”. Everyone rides alone, with their own strengths and that’s the way they finish.

No Specific Route

You choose the route you want to follow, as long as you pass through the specified control points. Choose wisely, so you can finish first!

This is also the radical element of this event. There are a few alternative paths in our routes , and you are invited to choose the best path for you.

Whether it will have more kilometers or more total altitude, it is something you have to decide by studying the map or the area. It is also good strategy to have an alternative route in mind, a plan B, in case you need it.

Your only obligation is to go through the mandatory control points, before closing time and seal your card.

GPS tracking

For reasons of safety and information, the location of each competitor will be recorded on a digital map of the selected race. This will allow riders to watch at any time, where their “competitors” are.

In each category (except Greyhound 120) there will be a digital map, showing the competitors’ (real time) positions. Each dot on the map will correspond to a unique geographic position, indicating your entry number and your name.

This service will be activated shortly before the start of the route and will be deactivated after it closes.

Your stigma will be refreshed almost instantly, so it will be possible for you and your family members to keep track of your progress.

Pairs & Teams

The only time that drafting is allowed → Pairs participate 2 and in Teams up to 5

There is the possibility of someone to join the race together with a friend and thus sharing the same number of participation, for example the number 115. In this case, they will both participate with the numbers 115A and 115B respectively.

Pairs – that belong to a separate category – will be able to share supplies and use drafting, in other to save their strength.

At the end of the day, the strongest athlete, the one with the best tactics, the best logistics, and the biggest “hunger” will win the race.

Pairs – that belong to a separate category – will be able to share supplies and use drafting, in other to save their strength.

At the end of the day, the strongest athlete, the one with the best tactics, the best logistics, and the biggest “hunger” will win the race.

Why Epic Rides is considered a purist cycling event? Because the end result depends only on the competitor’s strengths and abilities.

Epic Rides is a purist event, where everyone has equal rights to victory. Some of its unique features are:

It is the only kind of cycling event where no outside assistance is allowed. You can take whatever you need or buy on the road.
